Apple Pie Smoothie
An Apple Pie smoothie a day keeps the doctor away ;)
This is our go-to smoothie every fall when apples are in season and are abundantly available. This smoothie is so decadent and rich with delicious flavors of Apple Pie that your kids aren't even going to realize it's healthy.
The apples and bananas add a hint of sweetness and creaminess while the spices add heat and bring out the flavor of the apples. It has a choke full of vitamins and minerals, anti-oxidants and anti-inflammatory compounds like curcumin and 6-gingerol from the spices used. All the fiber and protein in this smoothie will keep you full and keep your digestive system happy.
Just toss the apples, bananas, nut butter and spices and you've got yourself a delicious Apple Pie Smoothie!!
Fuji Apples - 1 cup, chopped
Frozen banana - 1
Oats - 1/4 cup
Fresh ginger - small piece
Turmeric root - 2-3 small pieces
Nutmeg - A pinch
Almond Butter - 1 tbsp
Goji berries - 1tbsp , optional
Water/ Nut milk - 1 cup or more, if you like your smoothie thinner
Toss all the ingredients in a blender and blend until nice and creamy.
This recipe is quite versatile and you can add few more ingredients like chia seeds, flax seeds soaked almonds, cashews etc. to make it more wholesome and nutrient-dense.
You can add 1-2 pitted dates or a dash of honey if you like your smoothie sweeter. I find the above recipe perfect for my liking.
If fresh ginger or fresh turmeric root is not available, use ginger powder and turmeric powder.
You can use cinnamon instead of nutmeg
