Healthy Road Trip Snack Ideas
Who doesn't love a good road trip?! There's something really exciting about packing up the car and heading out on the open road while blasting some music (although ours also involves playing a lot of nursery rhymes but hey! some of them really are catchy, don't ya think?)
With 4th of July just around the corner, I bet a lot of you have your travels already planned out. I'm sure most of you are shopping for travel snacks and other yummy goodies to munch on during your road trip.
Although traveling is super fun, it can be a little stressful on our digestive systems. Sitting in the car for extended period of time and endless snacking on unhealthy foods can put a lot of pressure on our gut and may cause bloating, gas, constipation or general discomfort. While sitting and driving is inevitable, choosing your snacks wisely can make a huge difference on how you feel at the end of your road trip.
So today I'm sharing with you some Health Snack Ideas for your upcoming road trip that can change the way you look & feel during the trip. These snacks are healthy, affordable and easy to carry with you. I'm including the links for you to make your life easier :)
FRUITS AND VEGGIES:
I'm all about including some fiber to keep my gut happy during a road trip. Packed with fiber, these will keep you full while on the road. Traveling can leave your skin dry, these will help keep your skin nice and hydrated and glowy throughout.
Fruits like clementines, apples, grapes, blueberries, strawberries, cherries, bananas and dried fruits like figs, prunes, mangoes, jack fruit etc. are some easy fruits to carry with you. They pack really well and always a nice option to have.
Easy to carry veggies like Sugar Snap peas (my toddler's favorite), baby carrots, cucumbers, celery sticks and cherry tomatoes pack a wonderful crunch and can be carried easily. I love pairing these with a protein like homemade hummus or greek yogurt.
Whether your are home or traveling, your body needs protein. Just because you are on a holiday doesn't mean that your organs are going to take a break. Make sure you eat enough protein throughout your road trip. Below are some of my favorite road trip options:
Roasted Chickpeas, - these are SO GOOD
Hard boiled Eggs,
