Kick-starting my new series with the Super Spice - TURMERIC


Turmeric is a spice that has been revered for it's innumerable health benefits for thousands of years. It is the spice that gives 'curry' it's wonderful golden yellow color.

It has been used in Ayurvedic and Traditional Chinese medicine for it's medicinal properties.

Turmeric is a rhizome and belongs to the same family as ginger. Turmeric root is peeled, boiled, dried and ground to get Turmeric powder that is commercially available all over the world. While both fresh turmeric and turmeric powder have health benefits, the root is not processed and hence still retains all of it's medicinal properties.
